I was in need of a last minute holiday just to get away from London life and I booked it on the Friday and flew out on the BA flight on the Sunday. The hotel is beautiful – it has that barefoot luxury feel and it was not pretentious at all. The service and food was excellent and the location is hard to beat – especially the view from the infinity pool. The décor is similar to the other Como Properties – stylish and relaxed, the rooms are very light and airy and there are white fabrics and Balinese furniture running throughout the property. I stayed in one of the Garden View Rooms and they were really spacious – they have a large balcony area are definitely rooms that you look forward going back to at the end of the day to relax in.

The resort is located on one of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen…total paradise. For once I was on a beach with sand as white as you see in magazines and the sea was an amazing turquoise colour.

If you want to do a detox week in paradise this is the place for you – you can simply relax around the pool, have spa treatments in the world class Como Shambhala Spa, go on a run around the island, use the great gym facilities and take part in the yoga packages. I would recommend staying there during one of the Como Shambhala retreat weeks is taking place. I wasn’t on one of the retreat packages but if I went back I would do this as you do get plenty of single travellers going there and they have yoga masters from around the world who host the week. The hotel offer a Como Shambhala Spa menu which is available at all meal times in all restaurants and also available for the in room dining so you can eat amazing food and it is healthily prepared.

I found the staff to be excellent, the facilities great and the clientele were really lovely – there was a real mix so great for people watching. Everyone was very welcoming and I really felt as though I didn’t stick out being there alone. With it being so close to Miami you do get people taking weekend breaks there so there always seemed to be new faces in the resort.
